Construction works of Zsar Outlet Village in South-Eastern Finland are now underway. The groundworks of the plot have started today. The €40 million scheme, located immediately adjacent to the busiest border crossing point between EU and Russia, will open late 2018.
Zsar will be the first premium outlet village in Finland. In its first phase it will include c. 65 premium and luxury brands, F&B facilities, children’s playground area and parking places for c. 1,000 cars.
Zsar is located at the gateway between EU and Russia, halfway between Helsinki and St. Petersburg. There are over 3 million border crossings in Vaalimaa checkpoint just 300 metres from Zsar, and another 4 million crossings through three other major border stations within one hour drive.
Zsar offers a unique opportunity for retailers to satisfy the huge demand for premium brands among 8,5 million Finnish and Russian consumers within a 200 km radius.
One of Zsar’s main features will be energy efficiency. The open air centre will use geothermal energy, which provides a cost efficient and environmentally friendly means for heating and cooling. The malls will be heated in order to keep them clear from snow during winters. The architecture reminds neoclassical 18th and 19th century St. Petersburg and Helsinki style.
